GERMANY’S general manager Oliver Bierhoff is heading to South Africa later this month to check out the hotels and training facilities on offer for the World Cup finals in 2012.

Ahead of tonight’s Group Four qualifier with Wales in Moenchengladbach – only the fourth game of the 10 matches each team will play – Bierhoff confirmed he was leading a three-man delegation to make tentative arrangements.

European Championship runners-up Germany beat Russia in Dortmund at the weekend to stay top of the Group with a one-point advantage over John To shack’s side, and Bierhoff said: “The primary objective is to check out the hotels and training facilities and to pick up tips and advice from people in the know out there.”

But he insisted that no-one in the German camp was expecting anything other than an extremely difficult match this evening and praised To shack.

“He has done a very good job,” he said
